Basic Sync Cabling Setup for Multi-Instrument

This topic describes how to make cable connections between Leader and Follower(s) in a multi-instrument setup using the Basic Sync cabling method.

For multi-instrument systems with greater than two instruments:
The order of entries added for Followers in the software GUI must match the cabling order in which you have connected the Followers.

  1. Connect the 10 MHz REF OUT connector of the Leader to the 10 MHz REF IN connector of Follower <1> using a clock cable.

  2. Connect the 2.4 GHz OUT connector of the Leader to the 2.4 GHz IN connector of Follower <1> using a clock cable.

  3. If there are more than one Follower in the setup:

    1. Repeat the steps 1 and 2 between the followers, in the order the followers appear in the IP Address/Hostname list in the launch configuration.
  4. Connect the SYNC DN connector of the leader to the SYNC UP connector of Follower <1> using a KDMI cable (a u-HDMI cable with non-standard pin assignments).

  5. If there are more than one Follower in the setup, connect the SYNC DN on Follower <1> to SYNC UP on Follower <2>.

  6. Repeat step 5 so that all remaining Followers in the setup are connected to their next Follower in the setup.

The leader chassis has no clock input cables (if it is generating both clocks internally) and no KDMI cable connected to its SYNC UP connector.
The last follower instrument has no clock output cable, and no KDMI cable connected to its SYNC DN connector.
